Longitude 77, a premium Indian single malt whisky from Pernod Ricard India, has made its grand debut in Kolkata with an exclusive launch event at ITC Sonar, captivating the city’s discerning spirits connoisseurs with its blend of Indian craftsmanship and global expertise. The launch marked a key step in the brand’s expansion strategy, targeting markets with strong potential for premium whisky consumption.
Recognised internationally for its quality — including Gold medals at the London Spirits Competition, The Global Spirit Masters by The Spirits Business and Monde Selection — Longitude 77 reflects centuries of whisky-making heritage brought to life through expertise drawn from iconic global brands. Its distinctive character comes from a double maturation process in American bourbon barrels and wine casks, with ageing carried out in the cool, dry climate of Dindori, Nashik, yielding a rich profile with notes of caramel, vanilla and a hint of peat smoke.
The Kolkata launch gathered whisky lovers to experience a curated tasting that paired Longitude 77’s refined flavours with interpretations of local culinary elements, celebrating both the spirit’s complexity and the city’s vibrant cultural palate. Mahesh Patil, Master Blender, said the expansion into Kolkata underscores the brand’s commitment to showcasing Indian single malts on a world-class platform while connecting with connoisseurs who value premium craftsmanship.
Named after the 77° East longitude that runs through India, the whisky’s branding and philosophy also pay homage to the country’s geographic and cultural diversity. Longitude 77 is now available in key Indian markets, including West Bengal, and continues to set new benchmarks for Indian whisky enthusiasts as it grows its presence across India and beyond.
