A new name is entering India’s dessert scene with plans that could change the way people enjoy frozen treats in cities across the country. UAE’s much loved mochi ice cream brand Moishi has made its way to India through a local partner, signalling what many see as the first time premium mochi ice cream will be offered here in an organised way.
Moishi is known for its handcrafted mochi ice cream where soft glutinous rice dough wraps creamy ice cream inside. It became popular in the UAE for its unique texture and range of flavours that blend Japanese inspiration with premium ingredients. Now the brand will bring that same experience to Indian dessert lovers.
The move comes from the CK Israni Group, a business house that has already brought well-known lifestyle and food names to India in recent years. The company believes Indian consumers, especially in big cities, are ready for something new in the dessert category beyond traditional options and familiar ice cream formats.
According to the group’s co-founder Chandni Nath Israni, people in India are travelling more and exploring food trends around the world. That exposure has created curiosity and demand for internationally inspired food formats. Instead of seeing mochi ice cream as just another novelty, the company hopes to build it into a structured category that is easy for organised retail, kiosks and cafes to offer.
Plans for the first stores, when they will open and where they will be located are yet to be shared. But with this launch, Moishi is betting that Indian food lovers will embrace its soft, chewy mochi shell and cool ice cream centre as a fresh, indulgent treat worth trying.
