For frequent flyers and premium travellers flying out of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, airport wait times are about to feel a lot more comfortable. American Express has inaugurated a new Centurion Lounge at Terminal 1 — a dedicated space offering exclusive amenities, designed to elevate the travel experience for eligible cardmembers.

The new lounge — part of American Express’s global network of Centurion Lounges — showcases upscale features including comfortable seating, gourmet bites, curated beverages and stylish interiors aimed at blending relaxation with productivity before flights. These lounges typically include high-speed Wi-Fi, premium refreshments and work-friendly spaces that cater to business and leisure travellers alike.

Situated in Terminal 1 of the airport, the location strategically serves a growing volume of domestic travellers. This move comes after a period in which the Centurion Lounge at Terminal 3 was closed, reflecting broader realignments and expansion efforts across the airport hubs to better serve evolving passenger flows.

Access to Centurion Lounges — including this new Delhi location — is generally available to holders of American Express’s premium travel cards, such as the Platinum Card® and Business Platinum Card®, which offer a range of travel-related benefits as part of their membership privileges. These typically include entry to high-end airport lounges worldwide through the American Express Global Lounge Collection.

The opening is expected to enhance the overall travel experience, especially for those seeking a quieter, more comfortable environment away from the usual crowds in departure areas. It also reflects how card issuers and airports are teaming up to raise the bar on premium travel services within India’s rapidly growing aviation landscape.
